Tanzanite is said to be 1000 times rarer than diamonds. This is due to the fact that it is only found in one very small area of the world. The gemstone was created millions of years ago by the same tectonic shift that created Mount Kilimanjaro and the Great Rift Valley of Tanzania. Tanzaniteis so rare because it is found and mined in a small area only four kilometers wide and two kilometers long at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in the Manyara Region of Northern
This gem is from the early discovery of the tanzanite gemstone and it comes from the famous Block "D" which has produced the finest quality of this gemstone. There is deep rich color that photos can not capture. This is a must see in person.

This gem weighs about 11.78 cts. adds measures about 14.16 X 11.85 X 9.91 mm. These measurements come from the GIA appraisal form.
Indeed this is an exquisit example of the Tanzanite gems. IGS reports the value to this site to be $750 to $1500. This quality is definitely in the top range of value.
Included here is a GIA certificate of authenticity as well as an appraisal from AIG Lab showing the value to be $20,000 in 2006.
