I present, an insanely dispersive plum zircon from the Harts Ranges, Northern Territory of Australia.
This gem has a rich plum colour with extremely high dispersion. Faceted in my new personal design "Hypercube Z" you will find no other zircon on earth like it (for now). inspired by the works of Ramon Tesoro I set to work on a design for pure-brilliant-fire, arriving at this design crafted for High-type zircons, to maximize the face up dispersion seen.
This is a real gem, unheated and untreated just as nature made it.
Harts Range is renowned for being a top-quality source of plum, pink, champagne, red, orange, yellow, green and white zircons. The zircons found here differ to every other location in that they contain extremely low concentrations of radioactive elements (virtually undetectable in many specimens). This is unique to Harts Range and leads to High-Type zircons with refractive indices over 1.91 and EXTREME dispersion.
