Fantasy cut 3.85ct Dravite "Sunset" Tunduru Tourmaline

This 3.85ct Dravite Tourmaline from Tunduru is super saturated with color. It is internally flawless and cut in a very untraditional way. The c-axis was closed so light return was only available over 1 axis along the shortest side of the gem. An opposed-bar-concave situation was my best guess at getting the exquisite orange of the gem to be available to the viewer. For this, it's quite a directional gem, being literally black down the c-axis that is. Still, some pretty nice light return and fine, fiery orange color was found with the help of concaves. I couldn't let such a clean piece of tourmaline never be cut!
Could be used in a pendant or possibly ring, or just one for the collection.
East African origin (Tunduru) material sourced from MadMagpie Gems, a licenced african based gem dealer. Imported legally & conflict free.
