Although it sounds very similar Sapphirine has nothing to do with Sapphire. It is named after the colour of Saphir.
It is an Aluminosilicate with a Mohs hardness of 7.5 with no cleavage what makes this stone very suitable for cutting.

Why are users outbidding themselves?
