A new entrant in the world of gemstones, Chalcedony Aquaprase, is a unique bluish-green color rock. Traded as ‘Aquaprase’, it reflects the richness of nature with a sandy and earthy tone. A rare gem, it is quite extraordinary and mesmerising.
The attractive bluish green color of Aquaprase, which may be caused by chromium and nickel, should prove to be a popular and welcome addition to the gem trade. This gem was first submitted to GIA’s Carlsbad laboratory by Yianni Melas of Greece. It was only recently discovered and when it was first found the translucent material displayed a vibrant bluish green color. Although chalcedony varieties such as chrysoprase and Gem Silica are well known and occur in yellowish green and greenish blue colors, the color of this material was distinctly different from any African chalcedony examined by Gemological Institute of America to date.
As a healing stone Chalcedony promotes good will and effectively absorb negativity from our lives. It also creates a harmony between the body, mind and emotions, thereby creating stability. The stone is also deemed to transform melancholy in to joy.
