Prehistoric 30-40 Million Year Old Basilosaurus Specimen -Whale Ancestor
Specimen of a fossilized tooth from Basilosaurus, a prehistoric cetacean (whale-like, marine mammal) that existed during the Late Eocene, 30 to 40 million years ago (mya). This piece was found in Morocco.
It was the apex predator of its time feeding on large fish and other marine mammals.
Basilosaurus or Zeuglodon ("Yoked Tooth") is one of the largest known animals to exist from K/T extinction event.
It was probably an active predator rather than a scavenger.
The tooth type is also known as a Incisor Tooth
The specimen displays excellently details .
The root and and or enamel show evidence of restoration

Location: Dakhla, Western Sahara, South Morocco
Geological Formation: Boujdour Basin, Middle-Late Eocene Phosphate Outcrops

We visited Morocco in 2017 and visited areas where Nomads dug for Dinosaur fossil were found but they were extremely difficult to find.
