This is a natural untreated chololate coloured amethyst which was coloured by intense heat which cooked the amethyst to make it a brown colour.This is a rare occurance in nature.

Amethyst is a purple form of quartz and it is the Birthstone associated with February..Amethyst occurs in primary hues from a light slightly-pinkish violet to a deep grape purple. The ideal grade is called "Deep Siberian" and has a primary purple hue of around 75–80 percent, 15–20 percent blue and (depending on the light source) red secondary hues
