ShangrilaGems supply fully traceable gemstones - this is from Minas Gerais Brazil
Please note this is a large stone and whilst handling it for photography it gained moisture and dust specs - it is a very clean stone.
In recent years this gemstone has zoomed up in price. By some five times.
Due to it's immense popularity in the Far East.
We have taken photos outside in the sunshine, under daylight bulbs in a light box and on the hand. So the color varies depending on the light. None of the photos have been enhanced.
Think of a gorgeous blue stone and a topaz is most likely to cross your mind. The pacific blue colors. It reminds us of tropical beaches, swaying palms and lush crystal clear blue water we want to dive in
to.
Topaz is fairly hard at 7.5 to 8 on the MOHs scale of hardness. 99.99% of blue Topaz is both heated and irradiated. Untreated blue Topaz is incredibly rare.
PLEASE NOT THAT MUCH OF THE BLUE TOPAZ FOR SALE IS COATED WITH A SYNTHETIC COATING - OR IT MAY BE TREATED QUARTZ. TOPAZ WEIGHS MUCH MORE MORE THAN QUARTZ. SO 1CT OF TOPAZ WILL BE SMALLER THAN 1CT OF QUARTZ DUE TO THE DENSITY.
An English superstition also held that topaz cured lunacy. The ancient Romans believed that topaz provided protection from danger while traveling. During the Middle Ages, it was believed that attaching the topaz to
the left arm protected the owner from any curse and warded off the evil eye. It was also believed that
wearing increased body heat, which would enable people to relieve a cold or fever. In Europe in the Middle Ages, topaz was believed to enhance mental powers. Topaz is used in Indian Astrology.

WARNING: IF A DIAMOND IT LOOKS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT IS BECAUSE IT IS! If it is too cheap it can’t be real.
*OUR DIAMONDS are genuine natural diamonds and WHEN THEY HAVE BEEN TREATED WE WILL INFORM YOU.
*MANY SELLERS ARE SELLING COATED diamonds - these have been coated with chemicals to improve the quality of poor rough and make them look shiny; we can easily spot them.
*SOME ARE GLASS FILLED DIAMONDS -with very little diamond in them. They will all pass tests with amateur diamond testing equipment because they contain some diamond. Please be warned. They are charging far less that the real thing would cost to purchase on the wholesale market.

ShangrilaGems Responsible Sourcing
All our gems are Responsibly sourced. We know the country they come from and the specific mine. Our diamonds are all sourced from Botswana from the Jwaneng mine. The largest diamond mine in the world. Botswana upholds extremely high mining standards; No diamonds are conflict diamonds or blood diamonds. We cut these diamond in our own family run factory in Surat, India and there is no child labor. The staff are paid well and the conditions are good and the staff are well trained and looked after and are content and happy. We are cautious to use the word ‘ethical’ for gems or diamonds as in our experience ‘ethical’ means different things to different people. ETHICAL IS A SEVERELY ABUSED TERM.
