Tanzanite is the extremely rare, blue and violet version of the mineral zoisite. Tanzanite is only found in Tanzania near the Merelani Hills in an extremely small area of approximately 7km (4.3mi) long and 2km (1.2mi) wide.
Tanzanite, with only one known source has become one of the most desirable precious gems of modern times. Described as a modern phenomenon, Tanzanite is 1 000 times rarer than diamonds and is highly prized and extremely valuable both for its rarity and extreme beauty.
Gemmologists and Geologists have estimated that it is near impossible for the same gem to be found anywhere else in the world. Experts also now believe that within the next 10 to 12 years, the supply will decrease and then run out, causing the price to sky rocket and show the rarity of the gem.
