SPESSARTINE GARNET- MINAS GERAIS, BRAZIL
This is an incredible Spessartite Garnet crystals from Brazil. It is a glassy etched Spessartine Garnet floater crystal with dark orange/red coloured gemmy internals. The lustre is mirror bright on the complex stepped faces, glowing deep red when backlit, and the specimen shows terminations all the way around. A super example of a Spessartine from Navegadora Mine.
Note: A floater crystal is a crystal that formed without being attached to a host rock or matrix, and thus fully developed without any contact points. All sides of floater crystals are usually fully intact without damage being that they don't have a fractured attachment point.

Garnets species are found in many colors including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, black, pink and colorless. Some change color from blue-green in the daylight to purple in incandescent light, as a result of the relatively high amounts of vanadium. Other varieties of color-chaging garnets exist. In daylight, their color ranges from shades of green, beige, brown, gray, and blue, but in incandescent light, they appear a reddish or purplish/pink color. Because of their color changing quality, this kind of garnet is often mistaken for Alexandrite.
