Tsavorite is one of the most expensive and rare forms of garnet, specifically green garnet, which owes its colour to vanadium or chromium. Tsavorite is a relatively recent discovery, only known to mineral experts who discovered it in Tanzania in the 1960s. Sadly, the expert who discovered tsavorite in Tanzania and mined it in Kenya was later murdered by “claim jumpers” who tried to illegally mine on his property.
In the 1970s, Tiffany & Co officially named the gem tsavorite, after Tsavo East national Park in Kenya, and brought wider recognition to this amazing stone. The only other locations where tsavorite has been found so far include Madagascar, Pakistan and Antarctica, and so 200 times rarer than emerald.
Tsavorite is a type of garnet, and garnet is one of the birthstones for the month of January and is used as a stone for the 2nd wedding anniversary.
All our gemstones are tested and guaranteed to be natural Earth-formed and not made in a lab. Each is presented in a stunning leather display case with a reversible black/white cushion.

Why are users outbidding themselves?
When a bid is placed, this is the maximum amount a person is willing to bid for the product. Our system will then automatically bid on behalf of the bidder, incrementally increasing the bid up to the maximum to maintain their position as the highest bidder.
When there is an icon indicating 'Automatic Bid', it means our system is actively placing bids for the bidder based on their maximum bid. This may appear as if bidders are outbidding themselves, but it's simply a result of the system updating the bid to reflect the bidders maximum limit.
