After morganite’s discovery in Madagascar in 1910, Tiffany & Co introduced this gem to the American market. They named it in honor of the financier J. P. Morgan, who was himself reputed to be an avid gem collector. Morganite ranges in color from pale pink to pink, violet-pink, peach, peachy-pink, or salmon color. Its color is thought to be owed to traces of manganese or cesium. Morganite belongs to the very important beryl group of gemstones and minerals. Typically The two most significant deposits are found in Brazil and Madagascar. Other notable sources for fine gem-quality morganite include Afghanistan, China, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, Russia, Zimbabwe and the USA (California and Maine).Since its discovery, morganite has been prized by gem collectors owing to its rarity.
*CARE
(Morganite)*
All
beryl is sensitive to pressure and extremely vulnerable to household chemicals.
Although it is a durable gem type, it requires some care. Avoid wearing
morganite gems and jewelry when using harsh chemicals like bleach or sulfuric
acid. Use warm soapy water and a soft cloth to clean your beryl stones. Be sure
to rinse well to remove all soapy residue. As with most other gemstones, avoid
the use of ultrasonic cleaners, as well as heat steamers.
*CLARITY
CHART*
IF –
Internally flawless; free of inclusions
VVS – Very,
very slight inclusions; microscopic inclusions barely

sometimes also with the unaided eye.

inclusions; inclusions that are obvious under magnification and to the unaided
eye.
I – Heavy or
large inclusions obvious to the naked eye
All
gemstones listed here have been cut by myself. I work exclusively with a
precision machine when faceting gemstones. This allows extra brilliance
and appeals only seen in precision-cut gems. Gemstones are cut at
their correct refractive index using digital precision, this facilitates making
the correct facet angles allowing the maximum amount of light to enter and
reflect back up through the table. This allows optimum brilliance
according to each gemstone's individual refractive index. Special care in
polishing ensures that the faceted gem is showcased in all its brilliance. The
introduction of precision faceting machines has revolutionized the art of gem
cutting allowing the gem cutter to unveil the inner beauty of every single
gemstone like it has never been done before. The cut of a gem is one of the
main values of a gemstone and each gemstone requires special attention in order
to unveil its potential beauty. If you're looking for that extra special stone,
I hope you find it here.
Sincerely,
Doug
