The most prized rubies have a deep red color with a hint of blue, often referred to as “pigeon’s blood” red. Rubies have been cherished for centuries and are often used in fine jewelry. They are the birthstone for July and have significant cultural and historical importance in many societies. Major sources of rubies include Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Mozambique.
