ORIGIN : KIMMERIA, XANTHI PREFECTURE, THRACE, GREECE
A wonderful example of Epidote crystals with a nice luster on a cluster of terminated Quartz crystals. Most Epidote specimens that are extracted from this locality are below average and damaged. It has been reported that this occurs due to the fact that during the heavy winter, water runs through the cracks on the host rock, which freezes when temperature is below zero, thus damaging the crystals. This crystal specimen is among the better quality specimens. The locality is hardly known to the mineral world and hardly any of this material from this locality is available on the market which makes it a rare specimen (google search). A wonderful example from Northern Greece. Will be a delightful addition to any mineral or rock collection.
