UVAROVITE SPECIMEN
Uvarovite is a chromium-bearing garnet group species. It was discovered in 1832 by Germain Henri Hess who named it after Count Sergei Semenovitch Uvarov (1765–1855), a Russian statesman and amateur mineral collector.

ORIGIN : ANO VIRSINI, MACEDONIA, GREECE
A delightful example of green Uvarovite on an altered Chromite matrix and this is the only one I have to offer. Uvarovite is the rarest of the common members of the garnet group, and is the only consistently green garnet species, with an emerald-green color. Uvarovite from Greece is very rare and hard to find as collectable specimens. This specimen is from a small open pit worked after WWI in search of Chromite ore at the Ano Virsini area. Specimen has a rich massive film cover for the locality. Specimen requires magnification. Will be a delightful addition to any mineral or rock collection. Do not miss this opportunity.

Every piece of pyrite purchased from this incredible seller is different and unique in so many ways. I love my pyrite and will continue to use orkytonminerals as my source for all specimens purchases.
