Specimen is interesting under magnification, view the bright rich green well formed crystals close up. Some of the finest Annabergite crystals in the world come from the historic mines in Lavrion, Greece, and I have not seen many in private collections. This is a rich example of this hydrous nickel arsenate that is rarely found as crystals. Although crystals are visible to the naked eye, specimen requires magnification in order to fully enjoy the crystal structures. Annabergite is an arsenate mineral consisting of a hydrous nickel arsenate (Ni3(AsO4)2·8H2O). Crystals are minute and capillary and rarely met with, the mineral occurring usually as soft earthy masses and encrustations. Erythrite is isostructural with annabergite. Isostructural means that the two minerals have the same structure but different chemistries.
