This is a truly amazing piece of rhodonite, normally pink, black and opaque, gem quality rhonite is extremely hard to find. What make this piece so special is the soft, slight milkiness to the stone. This gives it an incredibly deep and even, fiery red colour and masks the few feathers in the stone. The cut is slightly tapered and there is next to no wear or damage to the stone which is also difficult to find given the softness of rhodonite. This is a stunning collectors piece.
This material was mined in Brazil as a by product of a manganese mine, normally you could never justify the time and money it would take to retrieve this amazing quality of rhodonite given that it has been brought up from a depth of 1.5km underground. This also means that no additional land was excavated to retrieved it as it is simply a by-product of the manganese mining.
