This is a fantastic set of true Imperial Topaz, as you can see from the pictures. You have to be really careful of buying anything with the label "Imperial Topaz" these days. There's a ton of irradiated Topaz on the market these days claiming to be Imperial Topaz. You can differentiate between the two using the Refractometer. Irradiated common Topaz will measure out in the 1.60-1.62 RI range. True Imperial Topaz will measure in the 1.62-1.63 range generally because it's slightly denser, with more natural coloring elements. Most Imperial Topaz is gently heated to bring out its full color. It's impossible to test for, so it's assumed that all Imperial Topaz has been gently heated.
We sell only top quality stones on this site. Everything we sell here is both professionally cut and has top color. Most people don't give nearly enough thought to cut these days. Most stones you'll see on the open market are cut in third world countries. They try and maximize the carat weight, so they leave large windows, and they almost never do a full diamond polish, because it's expensive to do. Almost all the gems we sell we first send off to be professionally recut with a full diamond polish. We guarantee you'll notice the difference. Just take a look at the pictures.
My business partner and I own a gemstone auction company where we sell the more common varieties and colors of gems. This site is reserved for the top quality stones that we come across. I'm a subscriber to a professional, paid price guide for gems, and I price stones at about a third of the going retail rate. So what you'll find here are top quality stones at about 35% of the going retail rate. In one of the pictures in the list above, I've circled the going retail rate per carat for this stone, based on the color and size of the stone. As you can see, this stone retails for about
I took pictures of this stone in multiple lighting environments to give you the best idea of color and quality. As a certified gemologist I can verify that the above description is accurate and that this stone/stones have been tested in the gem lab to verify identity and natural origin.

The listing guide states that Imperial Topaz must come with a certificate to state it can be called Imperial Topaz. Otherwise it should be called Precious Topaz
