Virtually, all Rubies on the market today, are clarity enhanced. The term Fissure Filled is also used for these Gems. The term has the obvious implication that the stones are structurally flawed. In our experience, nothing could be farther from the truth. We have had virtually, 100% client satisfaction with these stones after more than a decade of sales to thousands of Clients.
(My Ruby has been worn for more than a decade and remains absolutely unmarred and beautiful.)
Gemstar does not carry untreated Rubies. We see no logic in paying 100 times as much for an untreated stone that looks identical to a treated one.
We also consider Ruby to be an heirloom stone. Meaning, that they can be passed from generation to generation while retaining their beauty. (Treated rubies are tough, durable stones.) Please, consider owning one of these impressive Gems.

PROCESS:
Glass treatment of Rubies began in the 1970's. Glass was used to fill "silk" (naturally occurring microscopic pores in the Ruby). High quality Ruby rough can be transformed into beautiful stones with appearance identical to untreated Ruby. Specialized equipment (Chelsea Filter) is needed to tell the difference. In our experience, filling fissures would be a faulty application of the treatment process and would result in defective, fragile stones. Current manufacturing processes are producing high quality, tough, durable, treated Rubies. We guarantee them.

Should a Ruby bought from Gemstar deteriorate due to breakage in the first 12 months, we will refund the purchase price. (We have never had a request for refund due to breakage.)
