We've all seen the incredibly unique works of fantasy gemstone artists both here and on Instagram for example, but less than 10 Lapidaries worldwide perform this type of faceting on precious gemstones like sapphire. How often does such a stone present itself in a no reserve auction?
Your chance to snag a 2.45ct, unheated/untreated, concave cut sapphire hailing from sapphire central QLD. A delightful cornflower blue with a hint of green on the edges.
This gem truely is beautiful, in the simplest of terms. It features a deep concaved pavilion that gives a light play not possible in a traditional flat-faceted gemstone, and has an extremely bright and vivid cornflower blue in direct sunlight. Natural inclusion profiles are seen in the stone and beautiful velvety blue crystal growth lines are seen banding across the gem complimenting it's straight line concaves.
Unlike so many other rectangular sapphires, this is truely one-of-a-kind.
