GR10-African sapphires have been found to have color shift capabilities & this stone is a beautiful example of such a characteristic. Gem val has determined that the color is a strong purplish red which under incandescent light shows a vivid red. Stone is heavily included & contains a healed fracture. This unusual inclusion is created when the stone is being formed & in the forming a flaw occurs, then as the stone continues to form & grow, the flaw heals itself-maintaining the strength & integrity of the stone. This inclusion cannot be found in artificial material & is considered by many in the trade as a guarantee that the stone is natural. The inclusions do not detract from the sparkle & brilliance that the stone exhibits under any light.  I have taken photos under 2 different lighting conditions to show the colour shift properties this stone has. I have also included 3 photos showing samples of Tanzanian  gem rough that I work with in order to cut the gems. It requires much work to remove the included material in the hopes of finding something beautiful !
