Round Matsya IDA Fish VIDEO Link hand painted on Abalone shell drilled - an important piece, this cannot be repeated * This is exquisite * Sadly the artist has passed away now. * Gold paint contains real gold. * This piece is embedded with synthetic stones. * It will not fade - obviously it can be damaged if scratched. * The shell is drilled so the piece can be strung directly or it can be set in precious metal. the stone can be removed - the dill hole is underneath. (We have carved inside stones and set these shells in to the stone which looks fabulous.) * This is superb - and it cannot be repeated by this artist. Matsya (Sanskrit: मत्स्य, lit. fish) is the avatar (descendant) of the Hindu god Vishnu in the form of a fish. Often listed as the first avatar in the lists of the ten primary avatars of Vishnu, Matsya is described to have rescued the first man, Manu, from a great deluge. Matsya may be depicted as a giant fish, or anthropomorphically with a human torso connected to the rear half of a fish. After great floods Manu was the sole survivor on earth, as all other creatures had been washed away. Manu then took upon the task of creating the new human race. Seeking procreation, he then started austerities and worshipped gods by performing sacrifices, offering butter, milk, curds and ghee (clarified butter) to the sacrificial fire. Within a year, his prayers were answered. A beautiful woman called IDA appeared and he married her, and together they initiated the race of Manu, as Aryans called themselves.
