Peridot is the gem variety of the mineral
olivine. Its chemical composition includes iron and magnesium, and iron is the
cause of its attractive yellowish green colors. Peridot is named after the
French word peritot, meaning gold, because the mineral can vary towards this
color. Peridot is the birthstone for the month of August. It is also the stone
given to celebrate the 16th year of marriage. The Egyptians called it the “gem
of the sun.” Today this gem is still prized for its restful yellowish green
hues and long history. In the middle ages, Europeans brought peridot stones
back from the Crusades to decorate church plates and robes. Peridot was also
known to ancient Hebrews and is listed both as one of the stones used by Aaron
and found in the text of the apocalypse (Revelations). Peridot has long been
called “an Evening Emerald,” for, under artificial light, the stone glows a
brilliant green.

work exclusively with a precision machine when faceting gemstones. This allows
extra brilliance and appeals only seen in precision-cut gems.
Gemstones are cut at their correct refractive index using digital precision,
this facilitates making the correct facet angles allowing the maximum amount of
light to enter and reflect back up through the table. This allows
optimum brilliance according to each gemstone's individual refractive index.
Special care in polishing ensures that the faceted gem is showcased in all its
brilliance. The introduction of precision faceting machines has revolutionized
the art of gem cutting allowing the gem cutter to unveil the inner beauty of
every single gemstone, as it has never been done before. The cut of a gem is
one of the main values of a gemstone and each gemstone requires special
attention in order to unveil its potential beauty. If you're looking for that
extra special stone, I hope you find it here.
Sincerely,
Doug
