Sphene is the older name of this mineral wich refers to its crystalshape. Titanite is the universial name amongst mineralogists today and refers to its content of titanium. Greenovite is the name given to red or pink sphene. Gemologists use the name sphene for gem material titanite.
Sphene is a very rare brilliant yellowish-green, green, orange or brown gemstone with a high luster, also known as "titanite" due to its titanium content. The name "sphene" comes from the Greek word, "sphen", meaning "wedge", which alludes to the formation of its crystals. Due to its high dispersion, when brilliant-cut, sphene can exhibit a fire similar to that of diamond.

NeutralI really don't understand this seller. He only shipped when threatened by the GRA managers I turned to. However, the stone arrived and is beautiful, albeit with some cracks not visible in the announcement. Be careful if you buy from them and be strict.
