Virtually, all Rubies on the market today, are clarity enhanced.   The term Fissure Filled is also used for these Gems.  The term has the obvious implication that the stones are structurally flawed.  In our experience, nothing could be farther from the truth.  We have had virtually, 100% client satisfaction with these stones after eight years of sales.   (My Ruby has been worn for many years and remains absolutely unmarred and beautiful.)

Gemstar does not carry untreated Rubies.  We see no logic in paying 100 times as much for an untreated stone that looks identical to a treated one.

We also consider Ruby to be an heirloom stone.  Meaning, that they can be passed from generation to generation while retaining their beauty.  (Treated rubies are tough, durable stones.)  Please, consider owning one of these impressive Gems.

PROCESS:

Glass treatment of Rubies began in the 1970's.   Glass was used to fill "silk" (naturally occurring microscopic pores in the Ruby).   High quality Ruby rough can be transformed into beautiful stones with appearance identical to untreated Ruby.   Specialized equipment (Chelsea Filter) is needed to tell the difference.

GEMSTAR QUALITY CONTROL We take great care to inspect and accurately represent all stones placed for sale. Gemstar uses the following to insure the accuracy of our offerings: Polariscope, Refractometer, Chelsea Filter, 10 To 60 Power Gemscope, Digital Calipers, High Megapixel Digital Photography, Assorted additional equipment. All Gemstar items are guaranteed.

TREATMENTS  On a very, very infrequent basis, stones of many species are treated with laboratory “hocus pokus”. All stones are examined under 30 power magnification for any trace of these treatments. Stones that show treatment are clearly stated. Stones of many types can be laboratory created. Our equipment is designed to help to detect these. Gemstar never sells laboratory imitation stones, only natural stones that have beauty and are suitable for elegant jewelry applications where the fabricator wants genuine, valuable, natural materials that compliment their hard work and effort.

DISCLOSURES Nothing is more disappointing than to get something that is not accurately represented. All photos are of the actual stones. Great care is taken to accurately present stones. Any details that we become aware of that effect the quality, durability or value of the Stones are clearly stated.

SHIPPING Shipping is free for all items. Gemstar reserves the right to combine purchases into one assignment for convenience and simplicity. All shipments include descriptive information.   USA shipments typically arrive within a week. International shipments generally take ten days to five weeks. If faster shipping is needed, please contact Gemstar. 

GUARANTEES / RETURNS Should you ever be disappointed with an item purchased from Gemstar, you have a 10 day period to provide notification. Should you elect to submit stones for independent certification this period can be extended for an additional 45 days provided that you notify us of intent to certify within the initial 10 day period. All items have an unconditional money back guarantee subject only to the terms above. 

ADDITIONAL GUARANTEES:   Gemstar guarantees this stone against damage from cleaning or normal heat used in mounting. (We have sold 2,600 stones which have been mounted using heat and cleaned using sonic cleaners with no reports of deterioration.  Feel free to read our Feedback.)
