Demantoid Garnet is the rarest and most valuable of the garnets. The name "demantoid" means "diamond-like luster" and demantoid garnet is one of the few gemstones with a luster and brilliance similar to diamond. Found in green to emerald green, demantoid garnet is difficult to find and is typically found only in smaller sizes. Found in the Ural Mountains of Russia, it is the most expensive of the garnet family and one of the most valuable of all gemstones. The most valuable color is dark green, but it is also found in yellowish-green and green. Demantoids with a rare horsetail inclusion are highly prized by collectors.
