Aventurescence Or Gemstone Schiller
In the world of gemstones there are special types of stones that show the Schiller effect or Aventurescence. Gemstones are special kinds of minerals that are cut and polished to make jewelry and other special decorative items. Most gemstones are transparent and show off a single color or multiple individual colors. Some gems display rare phenomenon that are rare, which makes their value quite high. Among these kinds of gemstones are those who shine through with an impressive look and dazzle upon discovery, unlike other gems that are found.
What Is Aventurescence / Schiller
The schiller effect is a lustrous mix of colors from the interaction of light within a mineral. “Schiller,” which is German for shining or twinkle, describes the gemological effect of aventurescence which is caused by light reflecting off tiny mineral platelets inside the gemstone. The Schiller effect is seen in several stones such as Sunstone and Aventurine Quartz.
What Causes Schiller
The Schiller effect is caused from light interference that forces the light to sparkle inside the gem. The sparkle effect is caused by the reflection of light from tiny disc-like presences made from copper or iron ore. Schiller effects come from very tiny inclusions within a mineral, which refract and reflect incident light. Schiller’s play of light in those waves gives the inside of the mineral a flicker of light, even though nothing is in it. An example of this would be the path that is seen on the ocean’s surface when the moonlight hits it. The moonlight is always vertical to the waves, as their angle to reflects it back towards the person’s point-of-view.
Unique Schiller Gemstones
With gemstones and the Schiller effect, it is an interesting gem to own because it has a quality of reflection that stands out to collectors of jewelry. It isn’t the same thing as buying a diamond. These are special gems that can be bought in different shapes, sizes, and colors that are dramatic in aesthetics from others.
