Mayan Zodiac Calendar
MAYAN CALANDER- SIMPLISTIC VIEW
Imagine our 365 day calendar that incorporates cycles of our Zodiac and Horoscope and cycles of change to seasons from summer to winter.
These cycles will go for generations.
Cycles of life with eternity.
This sophisticated calendar will never end but keep repeating so 2012 is another date for renewal of cycles.
And it is incredibly accurate over thousands of years.
No Mayan records can be attributed to destruction and end of this cycle in 2012 .
Weather changes always change from season to season as we are all familiar with this.
Mayans attributed their Zodiac signs to people born at different months, similar to modern Zodiac .
Their calendar did include changes in spiritual or zodiac attributes which is also changing in 2012 .
Spanish friar destroyed nearly all Mayan ancient books in 1562
So many records have been compromised by Friars opinions of life after death, Armageddon and end of world catholic theories.
Life is one constant cycle for our ancient mayans.
THE MAYA CALENDAR
The ancient civilizations of Mesoamerica developed accurate written calendars and ofthese, the calendar of the Maya is the most sophisticated. Its precision derives from thefact that it is based on an uninterrupted, continuous count of days (called Kin in Mayan)
reckoned from an initial zero day. The Maya counted the Kin in several independent
calendrical counts that were synchronized. The two most important were the counts
of 260 and 365 days. The Maya calendrical counts are written using a combination
of numbers and glyphs.
THE 260 DAY CALENDAR -TZOLKIN
The 260 day Tzolkin calendar was the most used by the peoples of the Maya world. It was
used to regulate the timing of their agricultural activities, their religious ceremonies and
family affairs. The Tzolkin day corresponding to his/her birth date predestined the life of
the Maya.
It is composed of numbers 1 to 13 and 20 names for the days, which are represented by
individual glyphs. On day fourteen, the day number starts again with 1 and continues in
succession until 13 and so on. The day names are repeated on day 21 and so on. Both
cycles continue in this manner until day 260 in unique combinations of number and names
since 260 is the lowest common multiple of 13 and 20. After that the 260-day cycle repeats
itself.
THE 365 DAY CALENDAR - HAAB
This calendar is based on the yearly journey of the Earth around the Sun in 365 days. The
365-day year was divided into 18 named “months” or Winal of 20 days each. The overflow
of five days was named Wayeb. Each date is written using a number from 0 to 19 and a
Winal name represented by a glyph except for the days of the Wayeb which are numbered
from 0 to 4.
