Rough Diamonds And Raw Diamonds
Rough Diamonds are sourced direct from the diamond mines and offered as raw diamonds. They can come in their raw cubic shape, as diamond slices or as tumbled stones. Lets explore the wonderful world of Rough Diamonds more closely.
Diamond Cubes
Diamond cube is the hardest and well-known naturally occurring material, having a 10 score based on its Moh’s scale of stone hardness. It is so strong that diamonds are used to cut through other gemstones by professional cutters.
Diamonds come in various colours ranging from black, brown, gray, white, blue, yellow, orange, purple, pink and red. The production and distribution of diamonds is controlled by a handful of players mainly the famous DeBeers. The most important trading centre is Antwerp in Belgium where 80% of all rough diamonds are traded.
Diamond Slices
Diamond slices are a new type of fashion started by diamond cutters. Knowing that diamonds with natural inclusions have lower values cutters decided to slice up the stone creating beautiful slices. The slices show beautiful patterns while keeping the shape of the diamond. These fine pieces are combined with precious metals like silver and gold and make for beautiful pendants.
Diamond Strands
Diamond strands look remarkable in both silver and gold settings and can be available in a various settings or styles. The Diamond pictured above is Carbonado known as the black diamond. It can be found in alluvial deposits in Central Africa and Brazil. The value of its color often affects its worth more than the carat mass and may be engraved to highlight the shade of the stone, rather than its shine. Diamond strand material is also accessible in a flake form. The high-value of diamond strands ensures that there is no waste. Diamond strand are cut from the faceted stones. Even in a cut form, this diamond has prevailing quality to reproduce and refract light, which is matchless.
Rough Diamonds
Rough diamonds refer to pieces of diamond that has not yet been engraved and refined. They are also categorized on attributes such as nature, dimension, colour, cut, and quality. The actual value of rough diamonds requires detailed knowledge and technical understanding it is quite a business in itself.
A diamond is totally made up of crystallized carbon atoms in a cubic arrangement. It has specific arrangements, which provide the diamond with its composition. Rough diamonds are typically produced as dodecahedron, octahedron, cube, and dodecahedron. All of the carbon atoms compromise with this diamond have the similar shape, and are arranged in a methodical pattern.
In fact, the structure of these carbon atoms is reflected in its external nature. The octahedron is the most ordinary shape, which has two four-sided pyramids fixed together at their base. Dodecahedron is another regular shape, which composed of twelve faces. Rough diamonds of this form is less pointed in form than the octahedron.
